Dimesse Sisters - Daughters of Mary Immaculate
The Sisters Dimesse Daughters of Mary Immaculate were founded in Vicenza in 1579, under the name of "Company of Dimesse" or "Company of the Madonna", valley Friend. P. Antonio Pagani, minor Franciscan monk. storia
Il Fondatore nacque a Venezia nel 1526, He graduated in civil and canon law in Padua 19 years. In 1558 He became less Franciscan friar and participated, in 1562 as a theologian, the last sessions of the Council of Trent. From the 1565 Vicenza collaborated for the implementation of the decrees of the Council. Here he founded in 1579 The "Company of Dimesse" (The name "Dimesse", much in use at a time when the Institute was born, means "humble - small"). He died in the odor of sanctity 4 January 1589, in Vicenza. The mortal remains of the Venerable Father are now kept in the Franciscan convent of San Pancrazio (WE).
The first Dismisses led a fraternal community life, rooted in prayer; they taught catechism in the parishes, they visited the sick in hospitals, they welcomed young women into their home for training and prayer meetings; they also went out of their city, to bring the Truth and Love of God everywhere, according to the indications of the Council of Trent and the motto "do good".
The company, between the end of the 16th century and the first half of the 17th, it spread to various locations in the Venetian Republic: Murano (AND), Verona, Thiene and Schio (WE), Padova, Bergamo, Feltre (BL) and Udine.
To the Napoleonic suppression of 1810 only the two communities of Padua and Udine survived, precisely thanks to their centuries-old physiognomy and their educational service, much appreciated by the authorities and the local population.
